Hurry up and wait

Been a couple of intense weeks at the cube farm. My main objective for the last three months has been to set up large format posters (91" wide by 36" high) for a technical conference, something I do two or three times a year. The deference this year is for this one conference I have to do 16 different displays, previously the high had been 11 posters. The catch is many of the authors have project work that supersedes developing the content so I receive their initial drafts and subsequent revisions at scattered times of the period leading up to when I'll be printing, sending out for laminating then preparing for and shipping out the finished posters to the venue hotel locations before they arrive and setup for viewing and discussion of their subject matter. This is all well and good but I also have my regular work that I juggle around. This is where the intense week enters the story. I had so much work come at me particularly last week that I wasn't able to do much more that take instructions for changes on some of the posters. Generally without the extra number of posters this is how I prefer to work - with just a little bit of an edge to keep things interesting. I have this week and the early part of the week after to wrap everything up then ship for the poster to arrive by the weekend. Still have three posters that have not come to me yet. It takes an average of 8 hours to do the initial setup. It's going to be tight. Could be a crash and burn weekend following.
