This and that

Milestone: yesterday marked one year since I was laid off from my job of 31 plus years. Really no big deal but worthy of documentation as part of my life's history that I expect not to repeat in future blogs. On the subject of layoffs, over 54 years of employment, from several teen jobs though eight adult hires six of which I was laid off from including the 31 year stint. Quite the experience of businesses that I was exposed to from a trade school education. The jobs over that time were working on survey teams as a transit man (before lasers), mechanical draftsman, civil draftsman (twice), electrical draftsman, airport master plans, residential design/estimator and finally a graphic designer. Most of it was time well spent for my career and my personal life.

Saga of installing a standby generator - Guy from the propane provider is hooking up the connection to the supply now. Next, guy from the standby generator provider should be here in a couple of days to turn it on to test it. Been a longer road then we expected.

Said and done. Made it to the vaccine finish line. Received my second dose last week. As the evening wore on I experienced muscle tightening across my shoulders and a bit of disorientation (that may have been my normal state :-) A night's sleep and I felt fine. Carol is a couple of steps behind me. Now just wait out the recommended two week period to allow the vaccine to fully built up and I'll be able to meet up with family and friends who are caught up with their vaccines. Heck, maybe take in a restaurant meal!
