Catching the Last Train to Clarksville

Davy Jones of "The Monkees" fame passed away today at the age of 66. I must have been around 13 years old when The Monkees came on the air, must see TV for me. Had several of the 45s (flat plastic with grooves for you under 20 mp3-ers). Not sure which of the band I liked the best, heck they didn't even get to play the music for their records, go figure, at least they got to do the singing... didn't they? Oh yeah, I know, Micky Dolenz did the lead vocals on Last Train... Well here was one of my favorites with Jones on vocal and don't forget the tambourine. Enjoy.

Time for a change

Step 1 on the path to a new camper - upgrade the tow vehicle. Traded in the 1998 Ford F-150 for a 2007 Toyota Tundra with 52,000 miles on it. Carol found this online at a dealership in Saco, ME Saturday morning - we drove it home that night. No set date on a new camper but we're ready.

Parting is such sweet sorrow - and I mean it.
The F-150 was pretty basic and I was very
comfortable with it. 214,000 miles plus in 14 years!

This was about 8pm, crazy time to be at a
car dealership... legally that is.

I have gotten over leaving the F-150 behind,
the Tundra is one nice ride.

East End walking

Eastern Promenade Trail, been awhile since mentioning my walks along here. With the mild temperatures my lunchtime walk here was a must. Not to wish anything upon myself it is quite an experience to do this walk on an extreme wind chill day - bundled up of course.

Winter milestone

Like any season of the year there are plus and minuses abound. For me winter is the season with the strongest contrast. As beautiful as the fallen snow is moving it is another matter. This winter so far has been more to my liking, as we close in on mid-February there's barely 6 inches on the ground and very little happening in the 7-day forecast. There is still plenty of time for copious amounts to make an appearance but I'll worry about it when it's on the door step. The real milestone of winter took place yesterday otherwise known as Superbowl Sunday. NFL games sure go a long way to making winter tolerable but usually I feel like the remaining couple of months become a lot drearier once the football season is over. Strange as it seems I'm rather content with the present status, the days are flying by and I feel like spring will be upon us in a heartbeat. As disappointed as I was that the Green Bay Packers didn't make it to the Superbowl the game between the New England Patriots and The New York Giants was fascinating. I was rooting for the Pats but my pick to win was the Giants though I'd expected a higher score for these teams. Now that's it's over the next milestone has become "pitchers and catchers in two weeks" report to spring training.
