Handyman and Upholstery Lady...to the rescue!

Ah, the weekend projects. Mine was spending a few hours in the attic over the bathroom. Back in September I posted a blog "Home project weekend" about work in the bathroom. I have put off finishing what I described until spring but I left the insulation in the ceiling over the shower enclosure peeled back leaving the poly moisture barrier open to the attic air. Well, as the temperatures have gotten cooler the warm air from the shower between the ceiling drywall and the poly condensed with the cool air now in the attic which was exposed without the insulation in place so there was water between the poly and the ceiling drywall. What a mess, though it hadn't soaked in to the drywall. I had to cut away the poly from the attic side and with a small fan and a hairdryer I got rid of all the moisture I could get at, then I had to custom cut and place new poly the best I could in and around the ceiling joist and strapping, sealed up spaces around the ceiling fan, then I re-laid down the insulation. Half the time spent was just sitting there moving the hairdryer around. All in all it went well, just another case of shooting myself in the foot with the way I go about things.

Meanwhile, Carol was busy doing some upholstery alterations to our couch which turned out very well. It's quite a change, the seat and back cushions were 2 sections each and she converted them to 3. The 2 cushion arrangements would get out of sorts after awhile and get uncomfortable so she expects the 3 cushion way to work better. She also made a couple of new pillows to place on the couch. The results look terrific.

Tomorrow we'll start working on our Christmas cards. We're going to design our own this year, we've gotten away from that for a couple of years and had expected to buy them again this year but after looking at a picture I had taken a couple of years ago Carol thought it would make a nice card so a slight change in plans for the better.

I love it!! Ian and Taylor's comments are sooooo funny! I hadn't thought about the blog being so handy for the kid's to keep up with you - even though that's what I use it for!
