Aside from being happily retired this year it's has been a bitch trying to get a variety of projects done.
First the standby generator. Ordered in the fall then having to wait out availability issues, various wiring issues and snow/ice till early spring when it all came together.
Next up was brick chimney removal from the middle of the house. The masonry stove it had been attached to has been long gone with the installation of a boiler system. The chimney itself was exposed on the first and second floors which would make the dismantling simpler. Actually this all came together thanks to some "rogue" masons who piece by piece worked from the ridge vent to the cement first floor. Crud, effective and not cheap which we expected beforehand.
Roofing. Re-shingling the house and the breezeway/mudroom. Garage not included. A lot of miscommunication with the project estimator, the work crew and project managers. We ended up watching everything they did to get things right as per the specifications.
Mold remediation. Technically this went well but working in an attic during a heat spell curtailed the amount time the crew could stay up there stretching the estimated days work from 4 - 6 days to 9 days. Egress to the attic was from the laundry area and the main bathroom became a pinch point for us as movement and staging needed to remain in that location and foot travel was always directly through the middle of the house.
All together there was a lot more to everything when finished.
